The Grote Taaldag is the annual event organized by the AVT and the Anela, the two major linguistic trade unions in the Netherlands. Sergio and Marie (unfortunately not pictured) were present to represent EDINA!
The lectures were very diverse, from formal linguistics to language acquisition, and of course much applied linguistics. Marie and Sergio’s lecture focused on translanguaging as a way to promote the acquisition of a new school language. We mainly focused on the use of the mother tongue to create a greater meta-linuistic awareness, which can be used in the learning of the school language by foreign-language newcomers.
